Post Christmas Blow Out

Website visitors can take advantage of big savings on some of our best selling products over the holiday period. Until January 3rd you can get a free upgrade from our Premium tower DVD CD duplicator to our enhanced copy and print lightScribe duplicator, the StorDigital PrintTower. With StorDigital PrintTower DVD CD Duplicator with LightScribe printing technology it is possible to both copy and print LightScribe discs without the use of a PC. The print operation is performed in the same way as the copy operation. Simply turn the duplicator to Print mode, then insert your LightScribe discs upside down. Now choose a LightScribe print design/label either from the optional built in hard drive or from a CD or DVD (where you have saved your file). Then start the print process. Typically printing a full face LightScribe disc will take up to 15-20 minutes. So if you have an 11 target LightScribe duplicator the average time to label each disc will be under 2 minutes. Prints that have less complex or non fullface designs will print faster. Also since the labelling process uses the burners laser that tracks from the center of the disc, labels that have ellements to be printed only near the center of the disc will be completed faster.

Another cool feature is the option to label the disc but leave an area to be completed by a subsequent print run. Using this technique it is possible to pre-print your discs ahead of an event but leave an area for labelling with extra information like names, dates or places. This feature makes a StorDigital LightScribe duplicator perfect for conferences, church sermons or any other live duplication that requires content to be labelled quickly at the event.

Davor Tovarlaza – DT Visual: A Customer Profile

We’ve had the pleasure to do business with Davor Tovarlaza for several years. He is an interesting guy, who works for a major hardware chain producing their training videos. He consistantly produces professional DVD videos that get distributed nationwide.

But all is not exactly as it seems with Davor. Simmering just beneath the surface is a hugely talented stills photographer. I have rarely had the opportunity to be so surprised and so impressed by a catalogue of work from a hobbyist or amateur photographer. I am no art critic, but I love art, I love creativity and I love simplicity and it’s these three boxes that the work of Davor Tovarlaza ticks. I suspect that Davor has an inclination to observe what other barely notice and it is this eye for the unexpected that offers an inquisitive story telling perspective to his work.

Discovering such talents in someone you know, is like a heart warming gift. Davor is hugely talented and creative guy who has been very succesfull in his chosen career. Photography is just his hobby. A hobby he clearly loves. You can see the work of Davor Tovarlaza here.

Man gets harpooned by laptop DVD-burner.

Reports are coming in about a viscous attack by a slimline optical DVD burner on a British man. The attack is known to have taken place in New Zealand.

According to the New Zealand Herald newspaper, 52 year old William Warner suffered a horrendous hand injury after the DVD drive of his Toshiba laptop fired out a piece of metal which impaled his palm.

According to the newspaper report, Warner works as a driver in the Whangaparaoa area near Auckland. The Briton said that he had placed a disc on the DVD tray of his laptop, and was in the process of closing the drawer when a sharp piece of metal shot out and pierced his right palm.

Metal Spike
“I looked at my palm and I was wondering, God what just happened?” he is quoted as saying. “Then the pain … became excruciating and I had to be rushed to hospital.”

Warner was apparently taken to North Shore Hospital, where the 11cm metal spike was removed. His treatment included having a bone fused as well as stitches.

It seems that the metal spoke was part of the track holder of the DVD tray.

The accident reportedly happened a year ago, and Warner has been seeking compensation from Toshiba for the injury, after discovering from his doctors that the after effects may be permanent.

Warner states that he is struggling to complete simple chores.

“I’ve been told I can no longer fish or play golf, and even writing for me now is a struggle,” Warner reportedly said.

“I can’t believe that trying to play a DVD on the laptop would land me with injuries that ended the use of my right hand as I know it,” he said.

An emergency call to was made to Arnold Schwarzenegger (who is known to have a experience in the area), who simply said “Hasta la vista, baby” then hung up. What is the significance of Mr Schwarzeneggers words? Should we expect to see more attacks of this nature on humans? Is this the rise of the machines?

Stay tuned.
